Mark Avsec is a partner and Vice-Chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP. He has also practiced extensively with the Corporate and Securities Practice Group. His practice focuses on Internet, new media, entertainment, copyright and trademark matters, particularly with music industry and e-business matters, including private equity investments in music companies, copyright and trademark litigation, and other legal support with respect to various types of music, film, Internet, media, and software companies. Previously, Mark earned a living as a studio musician, producer and songwriter, writing over 500 songs and producing or performing on more than 30 sound recordings. He studied music composition and theory at Modern Music School. Mark is an American Music Award winner and has been nominated for two Grammy Awards. He was also a member of Wild Cherry and the founding member of Donnie Iris and the Cruisers. Additionally, Mark serves as an Adjunct Law Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he also attended. Recently, he authored several publications. Mark is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, a nonprofit youth orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio and in residence at Cleveland State University. Mark earned his B.A. summa cum laude in 1992 and his J.D. magna cum laude in 1994 from Cleveland State University.
